The Marble Falls High School softball squad revealed the recipients of the 2023 team awards and the all-District 24-4A honorees.
Kylie Roberts was named the team’s Most Outstanding Player for her contributions at the plate and on the field.
“She led us offensively,” head coach Alex Lozoya said. “She had a lot of big moments on defense. She’s a natural leader. She made a big impact on the team.”
Freshman pitcher Marisol Ramos is the Newcomer of the Year.
“She worked hard in the circle for us,” Lozoya said. “She showed a lot of great promise and consistency.”
Emma Ivey is the team’s Most Improved Player.
“She played before and took some time off,” the coach said. “She showed tremendous strides. She was always making contact with the ball.”
The Heart and Hustle Award went to Sophia Biagini.
“She was always optimistic,” Lozoya said. “She finds the positive in every situation.”
Named first team all-district were Brie Kingsbury, the team’s only senior, and Roberts.
Ramos was named to the second team, while Aydan Ortis was honorable mention.
Lozoya, who just completed his first season with the Lady Mustangs, noted they all learned plenty together. The squad consisted of athletes who played the sport their entire lives, played the sport and stopped then returned in 2023, and never played until the spring.
“There were a lot of opportunities for the kids this year,” he said. “Hopefully we can carry it over as we get more experience. We showed our grit. We’re going to build and grow.”
